Sailing garden inspiration

From a large patchy lawn, with overgrowing weeds and moss, bordered by an old disintegrating fence, this garden was in need of an upgrade. The clients requested an attractive view with a sculpture from within the living room towards a beautiful and peaceful view.

The sail boat sculpture created by Paul Margetts was the perfect selection as a reference to one of their favourite hobbies - sailing. The sailboat floats beautifully here nestled within the planting and sitting on top of the large rough textured stone from CED stone.

The renovation began with the replacement of a full new boundary fence, following this the ground along the full boundary was dug out to create the proposed curving planting beds. The soil here was very thick clay, and therefore required additional subsoil and topsoil adding to the beds.

The reinforced concrete foundation was installed, to which the large textured stone would be fixed on top of. The 2 beautiful multistem Amelanchiers from Provender nursery were planted either wide of the sculpture. Plants were then laid out to ensure the client was pleased with the quantity, which were then set aside to await the arrival of the stone. Only once all the hard works were complete around the sculpture, the plants we then planted and the new lawn laid.
